Born and raised in Chicago, IL on November 19th, 1997.

 

Gyron Webb was affectionately and lyrically known as “Syfa The Beast”. Though he often switched up the spelling, his light was a continuous cipher to all who met him.

 

Though merely 16 years old when he transitioned from his earthly body, his charismatic, articulate character showed knowledge of a much more mature man. Even with all that knowledge and wisdom, Syfa was still “Lil Bro” to so many. His malleable nature expanded the village of people who didn’t mind nurturing, loving, clothing, sheltering and feeding the amazing young King.

 

While at Bowen High School, Syfa participated in the poetry slam competition LTAB, and also joined a group of emcee’s by the name of Automatic. CP3, a member of Automatic, asked Syfa to join Automatic. Even though Syfa dident have a lot of music recorded with Automatic he still played a big part in the group. Automatic introduced Syfa to LYRIC mentoring and their open mic. Syfa quickly became a faithful attendee of the open mic by LYRIC.

 

After almost a complete year of rocking the open mic crowd, Syfa decided to audition for LYRIC squad, a group of young poets, singers, and emcee’s who represent the face of the LYRIC mentoring organization. Though his witty rhymes inspired creativity, his love for the people gave him his position on the squad where he was the youngest member.

Syfa’s emceeing skills were undeniable as he put several respected emcees to lyrical death in rap battles. Though an emcee above all, his “Bopping” dance skills were not to be tested. When the “D-Low Shuffle” was played you knew Syfa was coming to kill it. His side-eyed serious look let you know he meant business! Syfa was just a beast in all aspects.

Whether on or off the stage, the art of his life and energy as a contagious glow infected everyone he encountered with.

 

On June 29th 2014, Syfa got the call to perform at the Ultimate Show. God granted Syfa the honor of coming home to open for a host of angles and ancestors.

 

Syfa is the first to take Automatic and LYRIC to Heaven with all of the fallen youth from our city and abroad, we imagine Syfa now currently entertaining those angles who we lost too soon. We all must always remember Syfa for being a flow of energy who always had enough to go around.

 

Not just a Cipher, but our Syfa… and we will NEVER let that SYFA end.
